Understanding Bluetooth

Most of us might think of Bluetooth as a magical, invisible string that carries music from our phones to our wireless earpieces. While that's not a bad way to understand Bluetooth, there's actually more to consider when designing your audiophile wireless experience.

If you've always wanted to know a little more about Bluetooth, let's take a look at how it works!

Think of your Bluetooth connection as a pipe for music to flow from your phone to your earpiece!
Depending on how big or small your pipe is, you’ll get either a lower or higher quality of sound!
As all the rich audio data flows from your streaming service and through your Bluetooth, you’d want to make sure your streaming flows smoothly through your Bluetooth and into your earpiece.

Getting a bit more in-depth in here

The size of your Bluetooth pipe is indicated by its bit-rate, measured by kbps (kilobytes per second).
This tells us how much audio data can be transferred through your Bluetooth every second!
The bigger the kbps, the more data is transferred, the more detail is captured in your earpiece!

The T-5 Series earpieces uses the latest aptX which are a league above your default Bluetooth SBC (sub-band coding), boasting 352kbps whilst SBC goes to a maximum of only 328 kbps.

While bit rate measures the quality of your Bluetooth connection, the next thing to look out for is latency.
Latency measures the lag time between what you see on screen and what you hear, particularly important when you’re watching movies or videos.
In the latency arena, aptX is once again the clear winner with a lower latency rate of 40 ms.

Using iOS? Don't worry!

At this point, our iOS friends might be feeling a little #fomo and wondering, ‘Hey I don’t have aptX on my iPhone!’
Whilst Android devices mostly support aptX, iOS users have their very own unique Bluetooth codec called Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) which does an amazing job for Apple products streaming over Apple services. (We’ll find out more about AAC and other streaming services in a future blogpost.)
The best part is, the Klipsch T-5 series hosts both the latest aptX AND AAC technology!
No worries about any compatibility issues, your earpiece has got you covered!

With the latest Bluetooth technology all packed within, the T-5 Series guarantees you an awesome, hassle-free audio experience. Want to get your hands on your very own T-5 Series earpieces? They’re now available for demo and purchase at all Challenger stores in Singapore!
