Sonos Makes It Home (Daily Reminders)

What if waking up every morning doesn’t have to be a chore or a bore?
What if you can come home after a long, arduous day of work, and be greeted by the lush baritones of Nat King Cole?
What if when you fall asleep, it can be to the lilting tunes of Bon Iver or Norah Jones’ silky smooth vocals?

That’s what Sonos can bring to your life. In Part 2 of the Sonos Makes It Home Blogpost series, we’ll teach you exactly how to navigate through the Sonos app to make use of these functions!

1.    Morning alarms
When setting your alarm for the next morning, you don’t have to choose between the boring options of angelic chimes (that are useless at waking anyone up) or blaring horns (that are too effective at waking the neighborhood up) anymore. 

  • In the Sonos app, open up the More menu.

 

  • Scroll down to Alarms.

 

  • Tap New Alarm.

 You can then

  • Set the time
  • Choose which room to play in
  • Choose your favourite playlist (we recommend Spotify’s Wake Up Happy)
  • Choose the frequency of the alarms
  • And even set the volume of music.

Remember to tap Save when you’re done!

 

Fun fact: You can set up to 32 alarms on the Sonos system!

Now, you get to wake up to your favourite tunes. You can even press Snooze, but we’re pretty sure you won’t when it’s T Swift you’re waking up to!

2.    After-work evening playlist

It’s been a long day of meetings and you’re dead beat. You open the house door, the clock flips to 630pm, and suddenly – the familiar intro of Michael Buble’s Home starts playing. 

If your son or daughter ends school at 3pm, you can set their favourite song at 4pm. As they step into a house, there will be a song that welcomes them home.

That’s what you can do with the remaining 31 alarms to be set on the Sonos system. You can set an after-work evening playlist to come on at 630pm, or a dinnertime playlist at 8pm, or a time-to-go-for-a-run playlist at 930am on the weekends. The possibilities are… pretty much endless!

3.    Setting a sleep timer

You can fall asleep to your favourite chill hits (yes, pink noise too if you’re that high strung). No more worrying about having to wake up in the middle of the night to switch off the music!

Simply set a sleep timer so the music will cease once you’ve drifted off into slumber.

  1. Select the Info & Options area on the Now Playing screen, and then select Sleep Timer.
  2. Select a sleep timer duration.

If you have babies or toddlers, create a lullaby playlist, and let Sonos remind you that it's time for them to take a nap or go to sleep at night.
