Songs about Dad

Share Article

With Father's Day just around the corner, we've compiled a playlist of songs about dad. From singing to dad, about dad, and a message to you from dad, we've got you all covered. Share a moment and connect with dad this special day - with great music.

John Mayer - "Daughters"

While not yet a father himself, John Mayer's 2005 Grammy-winning smash single urged fathers to "be good" to their daughters while they're young, so that they too can have positive relationships when they become lovers and parents themselves. Preach it, John.

Keith Urban, "Song for Dad"

In this heartwarming country tune, Urban sings about realizing how dad's tough love was his own good. From imitating dad's antics, to how the older he grows, the more of his dad he sees in himself, Urban fully embraces growing into the man whom he looked up to while growing up.

Billy Ray Cyrus & Miley Cyrus - "I Learned From You"

A gorgeous father-daughter duet singing about the life lessons from Billy Ray to Miley. Miley sings proudly about all the things she took from her father, "I learned from you that I do not crumble, I learned that strength is something you choose; All of the reasons to keep on believin', There's no question, that's a lesson I learned from you." The Miley of old might be missed, but this is a real sweet song.

Queen, "Father to Son"

This musical masterpiece of a offbeat rock ballad sings from a father's perspective as he tries to impart advice to his son, even though he won't listen. "A word in your ear from father to son, Funny you don't hear a single word I say, But my letter to you will stay by your side." Sure leaves you thinking about the conversations you always have with dad.

Owl City - "Not All Heroes Wear Capes"

The song title says it all. "He built me a house in the arms of a tree, He taught me to drive and to fight and to dream, When he looks in my eyes, I hope he can see that my dad's a hero to me". Step aside, Superman.

What's your favorite dad tune this Father's day?
