Love these Play 1s. I have four now in three rooms. Easy to set up and they work seamlessly Every time. Two in stereo sound as good as my old huge Polk Audio RTi A9 floor speakers though not as loud obviously. The added Alexa integration is awesome and works great. When you ask Alexa something it turns the speakers down which is a nice feature.

I paired this new Play:1 with another Play:1 that I have, so that I can listen to music in stereo. Setup is even easier than it was the last time I had to do this....Sonos has made significant improvements to their interface and software. Playback is consistent and efficient--no interruptions, even when my broadband is being used--and the sound of two Play:1's together is extremely good. Handles volume very well, has great clarity at the upper-mid range and high ends, and the bass is quite good for such a small speaker. I definitely recommend pairing two of these together. High quality sound here with high quality functionality.

The sound quality is great, but I can no longer recommend the system based on the software that is required to control the speakers. The latest versions of the software, which are updated whether you want them or not, are unattractive and buggy. Sonos' attempt to 'improve' the user experience has led to my speakers being linked to an account at sonos.com. No adding or changing the system without internet access to that account. I bought these so I could mostly play music on my computers and should not be forced to use sonos.com or new unnecessary updates all the time.Their new user agreement also says they can track all my activity or if I don't accept the agreement, I don't have access to use my own speakers! I'm not sure they need that and frankly I am tired of companies saying they need to track my online activities. If there is a clear reason and they tell me before purchase, that is one thing. However, after the fact, don't change the agreement to force this kind of monitoring.I started buying pieces of my Sonos system a while back, when there was not anything like Sonos on the market. Now I have options and will likely be buying and recommending other speakers in the future.

Easy to set up and great sound

UpdateI have changed my initial rating (below) of one star to three stars. After spending half a weekend trying to set up the Play:1, I finally was able to get in touch with Sonos tech support. After an hour of unsuccessful attempts with the tech, he put me in touch with a supervisor, who after about another hour was able to help me set up the Play:1, and then have it work with my Echo Show (Alexa). It sounds and works fine. Nevertheless, to be frank, I do not know why it took approx. 10 hours to set up the Play:1, it is unnecessarily complicated, and in short the Sonos app sucks! Time and time again, it leads you down rabbit holes and then abandoned me. For example, when I was in the Sonos app, it instructed me to open the Songs app--apparently not knowing I was already in it (this happened with the tech online and he could not understand it either). At other times, it asks you to do something, you do it and then nothing....no next or done or anything, it just leaves you hanging there--again happening with and confusing the tech online. All we could do was force the app to close and reopen the app. Sonos should really fix their app as clearly is is NOT ready for prime time! All in all: the Play:1 sounds very good, Sonos tech support is great, Sonos app is by far the worst and made setting up the Play:1 by far the most difficult smart product to set up out of the 30 or so I have in my home.Well, I hope that I can get someone--anyone--at Sonos to help me and change the one-star rating I am giving to the Sonos Play:1, but here is my experience so far. I followed the instructions that came with the Play:1 and downloaded the Sonos app to my IPhone7+. At just about every step of setting it up, I received error after error, after error message. An hour and a half later, setup finally instructed me to call Sonos, which I did and I received a recording saying offices were closed call back Monday (it was a Saturday). An hour more, I was able to get it to play a song thru the app (Like a Rolling Stone) on Amazon music, then followed Sonos's instructions to connect it to my Echo Show. Again, error after error after error messages. Finally, I was able to connect it to the Show, played a song, and then it immediately disconnected, the Show even announced it was disconnecting, and went back to playing Like a Rolling Stone, This happen repeatedly over and over, rending the Play:1 useless--except for being a very expensive paperweight! Admittedly, this is my first experience with a Sonos product, however, I do not know if I was sent a defective Play:1 or some of it is due to my inexperience, but I have set up smart TVs, 4K Blu-ray players, routers, etc. and have not had anything like the frustration I am having so far with Sonos. Whenever I try to turn the speaker on, and no matter how many times I use the Sonos app to turn off Dylan, it refuses to reconnect to my Echo Show, and goes back to playing Like a Rolling Stone over and over and over. So followed further troubleshooting on Sonos website: now the Echo Show recognizes the Play: 1 (it discovered it) but will NOT play anything on it and I cannot play anything else on it, not even Dylan, from my IPhone! Many technology products have a way of setting it back to factory specs, but I cannot find anything instructions on how to do this on the Play:1--I imagine something went wrong during setup and if I could just start with a fresh setup, perhaps I could get it to work. All I know is when I go to the Sonos app, it tells me it cannot locate or connect to the Play:1 or to my wifi (but the Echo Show can)! Weird! I certainly hope this can be fixed as I have spent half my weekend trying to setup the Play: 1 and all I have for it is a steady white light lit on it and unable to get anything to play on it! Sonos Play: 1 = PURE FRUSTRATION!!!

So I own a Bose sound link, Martin Logan and Pioneer (Andrew Jones) bookshelf speakers. I love music and when I bought this speaker, I already decided I would receive it, try it out and return it. I did not want to spend $200 on a speaker and cant justify another speaker purchase with the wife. Set it up (easy), learned the app (easy) and started playing this 1 piece of speaker in different parts of the house. This speaker is loud, clear and the bass on this tiny speaker out basses the Soundlink by a long shot. Maximum volume on this ONE speaker is enough to have great sounding music in the kitchen while cooking. I came from buying this knowing I will send this back to now looking for a 2nd one for my office.
