Listen, to most people who are not true audiophiles, this sub will be a fine. Sadly, most reviewers/reviews have never experienced what a truly powerful/deep/gut punching sub sounds like. I have. I own two REL No. 25’s $($15,000.00) combined with B&W CM 10 speakers. Trust me when I tell you, the SONOS Sub sounds like a mouse squeak compared to the REL’s. Now, I realize there is a $14,300 price difference so it’s an unfair comparison. With that being said, after reading a bunch of reviews here talking about the ‘deep bass’, I decided to go for the SONOS sub to add to my two Play 5’s in my office. Set up was a breeze but I frankly was dissappointed with the sound-namely that there’s not alot of added ‘uumph’ until the volume gets turned up loud. I guess my expectations were too high. Sure, it did add some depth to the low frequencies, but if you listen to music at low to mid volume range most of the time (which most people do), and already own 2nd gen Play 5’s...which put out solid bass on their own...save your money. If you own Play 3’s or 1’s...then go for it.

Very effective sub. Placement not very critical. Part of our 5.1 system.

Please see my review of the Sonos PLAYBAR TV Soundbar, which also sums up my thoughts about the SUB Wireless Subwoofer. To reiterate, this subwoofer is superb, and in my opinion is absolutely necessary if the Soundbar is used. The subwoofer can be placed anywhere in the room. Bass tones resonate and captivate. I am a real fan of smooth jazz. If you have any doubt about the dynamics of the subwoofer, I would recommend listening to Fourplay's classic, "Bali Run." I was overwhelmed. Yes, the Soundbar and subwoofer sell for a combined cost of almost $1400. But as I mentioned in my Soundbar review, value is an individual decision. Less expensive means less costly, but listening to this system is, for me, therapeutic. The smiles can't be bought, and the feeling associated with a great listening experience is priceless. As an aside, the highly polished subwoofer looks great. This subwoofer is recommended without reservation..

I have three of the PLAY:1's and decided to add this sub in. It totally transformed my listening experience! The lows that this thing has are absolutely impressive. I even stuck something on the top of it to see if it vibrated off, and it didn't even move! Sonos put a lot of time and effort into this sub. It's unfortunate that it's so pricy, but I see why. I love the fact that I can control bass/treble on the PLAY:1's, and increase the volume of the sub separately. Awesome!!
